Untitled Document Keynote on Obesity and Nutritional Issues:

Restoring Life Balance, Satisfaction, and Fulfillment:
    Living in the Human Dimension

Being totally alive means establishing and monitoring what is satisfying and fulfilling to you. In the larger sense it requires exploring the nutritional difficulties encountered today with youth and adults. Pressures abound from
    • Advertisers, marketing and PR to consume mindlessly –
      • resulting in obesity, binge drinking, malnutrition, bulimia and anorexia, and other self-regulation issues.
    • Farmers who preside over soil depletion in favor of production,
    • Junk food manufacturers and flavor engineers who create craving,
    • Crop geneticists, pesticide and pharmaceutical manufacturers weave and leave potentially harmful residues in/on foods,
    • Chemical manufacturers lobbying for more leniency on their products.
    • Diet fads such as the emphasis on protein.
    • Supplements that promise results without effort. and non-nutritional additives,
    • Suppression of discussion of questionable technology and substances. The consumer can easily get bypassed in the drive for production, uniformity, shelf life, appeal, flavor, consumption, and ultimately profit.
Is this a clash of corporate profit vs. consumer? Of consumer lifestyle and demand for convenience vs. true nutritional options? How do we introduce the basic fundamentals of good nutrition in an economy of excess, food fads, body image, and general imbalance? How do we restore the human dimension, instituting these practices into all aspects of our lives?

These items express Dr. Radde’s personal/professional inquiry and concern regarding our food sources and supply. Dr. Radde worked as a consultant to the FDA over a 9 year period, with an emphasis on the pre-market approval process, but also with non-nutritive food additives – USDA Food Safety Inspection Service – APHIS – National Cattlemen’s Beef Association – Chemical Manufacturing Association custom-tailored to your group through interviews with a representative cross-sample of participants. I look forward to tailoring a presentation for your group.
